About Stephanie

Solace: something that gives comfort, consolation or relief.

“Our lives are not determined by what happens to us, but how we react to what happens; not by what life brings us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results.” – Source Unknown

In 1997, Stephanie supported a group of friends, who were also Rowley mothers, in spearheading the effort to build Kids Kingdom, the town’s only playground at Eiras Park.

Stephanie was a wonderful, caring person who gave unconditionally. She loved the community, sports, and her family and friends. When Stephanie passed away, I felt our community needed to remember her. Rowley was where she grew up, attended school, married, raised her family, operated a business, and formed lasting friendships. By giving back to the community, she was part of making Rowley a better place to live.
In 2010, we accomplished our goal of renovating the park that Stephanie and her friend’s built.  We also gave two local high school seniors scholarships to cosmetology school.  And, lastly, but most importantly, we began to reach out and help local people who are affected by cancer.

From 2010 to 2016, we continued to raise funds to completely renovate Kids Kingdom.  During this time, and unfortunately, our community lost another young mother to cancer, Danielle Yajgian.  Danielle’s family also formed an organization to remember Danielle and we partnered with their group to also remember Danielle at Eiras Park.  We remember both Stephanie and Danielle.  But, we also remember others who have lost their cancer battle by naming benches in their memory at Kids Kingdom.

From 2016 to the present, we have continued to raise funds, but more importantly we have continued to help others, as Stephanie wished.  Although we have continued to host the Annual Comedy Night, you can DONATE any time of the year through our website.  We thank you for your support.

Our mission now is to continue to raise funds in Stephanie’s memory to assist those people who are financially burdened by the news of cancer.  We hope to provide financial resources for food, transportation and/or gas, parking costs, and other related expenses that a family incurs.

Thank you to everyone, near and far, who participated on any level to help Solace for Stephanie.  Your work has been tremendous and overwhelming.  Just think how one person brought so many of us together.

Through February 2023, we have helped 103 people with cancer (some have been multiple donations) and awarded 18 scholarships.  The 10th year brings a time of mixed emotions.  We began this journey 10 years ago to help others in Stephanie’s name but also we just cannot believe she is no longer with us. But, we will continue Stephanie’s work to keep her right with us.  We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you . . . if you have helped in any way, YOU are the angel network.
